How to Play World Cup Fantasy — Complete Beginner's Guide

World Cup fantasy on XI League is season-long: you build ONE squad for the whole tournament, not a new team every match. Your skill shows in three places — the squad you build, the captain you arm each gameweek, and the transfers you make as form and fixtures change. This guide takes you from signup to your first locked squad in about ten minutes.

Step 1 — Register (under 4 minutes, free)

Create an account with just a username, email, and password. No deposit, no card, no KYC. Entry is free on every contest — reward pools are funded by sponsors, and payouts are made in BTC/USDT with on-chain proof.

Step 2 — Build your 15-man squad

Open the World Cup event and hit Build Squad. The rules:

• Exactly 15 players: 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, 3 forwards.
• Stay inside the 100-credit budget — stars cost more, so every premium pick forces a value pick elsewhere.
• Maximum 3 players from any one country — you cannot just buy the favourites' entire front line.
• Your draft auto-saves in the browser, so a refresh never loses your work.

Budget tip: don't spend big on goalkeepers. The scoring gap between a premium and a mid-price keeper is smaller than at forward or midfield — bank those credits for attackers.

Step 3 — Pick captain and vice-captain

Your captain scores DOUBLE points; if he doesn't feature, the vice-captain's 1.5× kicks in as protection. The armband is the single biggest lever you control each gameweek — a captained brace can outscore three ordinary players combined.

Step 4 — Lock your squad

Building is free-form until you LOCK. Locking enters you into scoring and starts the transfer system. Lock before the next gameweek's deadline — an unlocked squad scores nothing. After locking, the squad can only change via transfers (or the Wildcard chip).

Step 5 — Manage through the tournament

• Transfers: you get a season allowance; each transfer swaps one player out for one in, validated against budget and formation rules.
• Gameweek deadlines: transfers and captain changes apply to the NEXT gameweek once the current one's deadline passes.
• Chips: Wildcard (rebuild the whole squad once), Triple Captain (3× for one gameweek), Free Hit (one-gameweek alternate XI).
• Knockout reality: players get eliminated with their countries — spread your picks across likely deep-run teams, and spend transfers replacing eliminated stars.

How you win

Points accumulate across the tournament into your season total, ranked on the event leaderboard. Top of the table at the final whistle takes the sponsor-funded reward pool — paid on-chain, transaction hash published on the Winners page.
